Using JSP as a Host Server. Hosting and Host.

JSP, Java Server Pages. Extension of Java Servlet technology for combining Java server-side programs and HTML. JSP pages have an extension .jsp. Hosting Basics

JSP Hosting is a Java hosting program that has many similarities to Microsoft ASP, Active Server Pages. ASP is Microsoft's server-side scripting technology. An Active Server Page has an .asp extension and it mixes HTML and scripting code that can be written in VBScript or JScript. ASP is distributed with Microsoft's IIS web server, so most host using IIS will also offer ASP for dynamic web programming. ASP.NET is the next version of ASP. Other popular server-side scripting languages are Perl, PHP, ColdFusion, TCL, Python, and JSP.. JSP hosting refers to the ability to run and manage Java Server, A server is an application or device that performs services for connected clients as part of a client-server architecture. Server computers are devices designed to run such an application or applications, often for extended periods of time with minimal human direction. Pages. Even though Java Server Pages (JSP) is quite similar to Microsoft’s Active Server Pages (ASP) JSP does have slight differences in the hosting environment.

Java Server Pages is a server-side language that uses simple tag-based codes inserted into HTML, HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the predominant markup language for web pages. It provides a means to describe the structure of text-based information in a document. and XML to produce dynamic and interactive web pages that are platform independent, meaning that by all rights they should appear exactly the same on every computer screen, regardless of the platform. This is the result when your publish yoy JSP-coded website on a JSP-supported Java hosting provider.

JSP allows web designers combine dynamically generated HTML in with their standard, static HTML code. While most CGI, Common Gateway Interface. A standard for interfacing web servers with an executable application. A CGI program can be written in any language like Perl or C/C++ and it is often stored in a special directory like /cgi-bin. CGI is often used to process data from HTML forms. programs require you to compose the entire website in that one program, JSP allows you to compose the dynamic aspects and the static aspects of your site separately.

Java Hosting which includes JSP support would be the logical choice of any wishing to eliminate the irritating need to repeat work they’ve already done. Java hosting, and JSP hosting specifically, would also be an efficient choice for those web designers working with a team.

One of the greatest aspects about JSP is that you don’t need to learn Java to use it and it’s practically built into programs like Macromedia Dreamweaver MX.

JSP’s use a variety of simple tags. The following are some of the most basic and common ones:

* Directives: <%@directive%> Instructions processed when the page, Name for a basic web document. Websites usually consist of many (web) pages. is compiled

* Hidden Comments: <–comment–> Document the page, not sent to the client, A computer program that requests a service from the server program, usually over the network.

* Declarations: <%!declaration%> Declare methods or variables with scope throughout the page.

* Expressions: <%=expression%> A bit, (Binary DigIT) the smallest unit of information, comprising of either a 1 or 0. more complicated to explain, expressions produce results which are then inserted into the output stream at the appropriate place

* Scriptlets: <%scriptlet%> A fragment of code that can access a declared variable and execute it at a defined time.

* Actions: <jsp:action> An XML-style tag that can perform any of a slew of functions

So if you are running JSP, remember that you need to have a host, A networked computer dedicated to providing a certain kind of service. Usually refers to a computer that stores the website files and has a web server running on it. that provides JSP runtime modules on the host side of your web server so that you can run the appropriate

Webdesign. Web Site Elements You Should Avoid Having on Your Site.

January 27th, 2012 Seo blog in Seattle No comments

Don’t let some minor mistakes stop YOUR Site from functioning optimally!

As a , you should Design YOUR websites to give YOUR visitors the greatest ease of use, the best impression and most important of all a welcoming experience.. It doesn’t matter if you had the greatest product in the whole world — if YOUR Web Site is poorly done you won’t be able to sell even one copy of it because visitors will be driven off YOUR Web Site by the lousy design..

When I’m talking about a “good design”, I’m not only talking about a good graphical design.. A professional web Design will be able to point out that there are many components which contribute to a good Web Site Design – , interface or layout design, user experience Design and of course the most straightforward, which is graphic design..

Hence, I have highlighted some features of the worst web designs I’ve come across.. Hopefully, you will be able to compare that against YOUR own Site as a checklist and if anything on YOUR Site fits the criteria, you should know it’s high time to take serious action!

  • 1) Background music

Unless you are running a Web Site which promotes a band, a CD or anything related to music, I would really advise you to stay away from putting looping background music onto YOUR Web Site.. It might sound pleasant to you at first, but imagine if you ran a big Web Site with hundreds of pages and everytime a visitor browses to another page on YOUR site, the background music starts playing again.. If I were YOUR visitor, I’d just turn off my speakers or leave YOUR Web Site.. Moreover, they just add to the visitors burden when viewing YOUR Web Site – users on dial up connections will have to wait longer just to view YOUR Web Site as it is meant to be viewed..

  • 2) Extra large/small text size

As I said, there is more to Web Site Design than purely graphics – user accessibility is one big part of it too! You should Design the text on YOUR Web Site to be legible and reasonably sized to enable YOUR visitors to read it without straining their eyes.. No matter how good the content of YOUR Web Site or YOUR sales copy is, if it’s illegible you won’t be selling anything!

  • 3) Popup windows

Popup windows are so blatantly used to display advertisements that in my mind, 90% of popup windows are not worth my attention so I just close them on instinct everytime each one manages to pass through my popup blocker (yes, I do have one like many users out there!) and, well, pops up on my screen.. Imagine if you had a very important message to convey and you put it in a popup window that gets killed most of the time it appears on a visitor’s screen.. Your Web Site loses its function immediately!

In concluding this article, let me remind you that as a webmaster YOUR job is to make sure YOUR Web Site does what it’s meant to do effectively.. Don’t let some minor mistakes stop YOUR Site from functioning optimally!

The Key to Better Websites. Web designer has to learn how to.

January 16th, 2012 Seo blog in Seattle 1 comment

One of the primary implications of a well-organized / good website, is to keep YOUR visitors in the website.. A Web Site is definitely created for a purpose, unless intended for personal use, which is the minority.. For example, a portfolio Web Site would want to be visited and it’s content viewed.. For companies and internet businesses, YOUR Web Site certainly aims to provide product information, to make sales, or somewhat similar.. However, most individuals undoubtly prefer visually captivating designs, so on and so forth.. It is undeniable that this causes no harm, but one must put himself/herself in other people?s shoes, as to understand how a visitor to the Web Site might think, do and react..

1 ) Navigation

As I said, a has to learn how to think the way YOUR visitors think..

Situation A : Website with good navigation ( 2-3 hyperlinks to target page ), well planned in terms of placement, and design..

Situation B : Website with poor navigation ( takes forever for the visitor to reach his/her target page ), hard-to-read navigation fonts and poor placement of the navigation buttons/bar..

In Situation A, a visitor will always want to be able to access his/her target page.. For example, the individual comes across YOUR website, and is interested in the product sold, but wants to find more information.. He/she finds the navigation with no trouble, and enters the particular product information page..

As for Situation B, a visitor stumbles into the website, and would also like to find out more information about the product.. Unfortunately, due to bad placement and fanciful font-types, the visitor takes forever, or even fails to find the navigation bar.. Even when he/she does so, links to the product information are nowhere to be found, (example : home > about > products > product image > etc?[a few more clicks] > product information )..

Analysis : In both situations, wouldn?t a Web Site with characteristics similar to the Situation A be more rewarding ergo better?
